Dari Dapur ke Rumoh

Our Story

Chapter One

A Humble Kitchen

Long before Rumoh Mekda had a home of its own, it was simply Dapur Mcda — a small kitchen where every dish was prepared by hand, with care and love, using recipes passed down through generations of East Coast cooking.

What started as home cooking for family and friends slowly became something people would travel across the city for — one bowl of nasi kerabu at a time.

Chapter Two

Building a Bigger Table

As word spread, so did the dream: a real home for these flavours, big enough to welcome everyone who had grown to love them. Over months of construction — dust, timber, rattan, and long nights — that dream slowly took shape at Bangsar Village 1.

Every detail, from the woven wicker furniture to the colourful fabrics on the walls, was chosen to feel like stepping into a lived-in East Coast home.

A rumoh is more than a house — it is where warmth, heritage, and family truly come together.
Chapter Three

Rumoh Mekda Today

Today, Rumoh Mekda serves the beautiful, rich flavours of the entire East Coast — Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang — under founder Mekda's own recipes. Same cherished dishes. Same love in every pot. Just a bigger table to share it from.

We source our ulam and produce fresh, cook low and slow the way it has always been done, and welcome every guest the way we would welcome family.
